Home Firearm Safety  (Mass Approved Course LTC-007)

Note: This course will satisfy the Massachusetts training requirement for an FID (Firearms ID) and/or an LTC (License To Carry firearms).

All classes are taught at the Ipswich Fish and Game club house at 22 Paradise Road in Ipswich.

Home Firearm Safety: Current IF&G Members $60, Public $75 (effective July 1, 2010).

  • 4 1/2 hours long.  Week Day Evenings starting at 6:00 PM or Weekends starting at 9:00 AM.
  • Classroom only, no live fire sessions.

    Safe Handling

    Basic Identification

    Ammunition

    Loading and Unloading

    Cleaning

    Storage

    Massachusetts State Laws

  • Course designed for people that have firearms experience and need a certification for an LTC/FID or for people that have no firearms experience and want only an FID.

  • This course does meet the minimum legal requirements for an LTC in Massachusetts.

  • Home Firearm Safety for groups of 6 or more.

  • Small groups or one-on-one live fire training.

Hunter Safety Classes sponsored by MassWildlife

  • Hunter Safety is taught by volunteers from the MassWildlife team.

  • The IFGA lets them use the facilities to deliver the class.

  • This class is required to get a hunting license, but typically is not suitable for any pistol permits.
